Quilt Pic Day Part 2

Quilts 45 and 46 in front of the lens at the Davenport House Museum.

Yes, more blue scraps generated & consumed in Quilt 45.  The second I saw Becky Goldsmith's Pick Up Sticks displayed at  Modern Quilt Guild Showcase 2014, I started sketching.
My execution of her design became more about diamonds than sticks.  I still had the star diamond from # 42 in my head. Love the pink hue in the background neutral.  That was one of my last fabric purchases in the going out of business sale at Colonial Quilts.

Quilt 46 was my son's dictate from Elizabeth Hartman's book Modern Patchwork.  He had me stop adding layers to the plaid.  A minimalist kind of guy.

I am totally jazzed about MQG Quilt Con coming to this lovely little city of Savannah, GA in 2017. My da'hlin man has headed back above the gnat line to his responsibilities, leaving me with the camera.  I'm glad for the exciting announcement from Modern Quilt Guild to ease the empty-house-and-back-to-real-job blues.

And this is what happens I'm left alone in the house...
Etcetera consumed the last of the Gray Grunge I had on hand. All the amazing fashion books have every fabric except the black, white and red removed from the glue, backed on Pellon and sorted into color stacks.  I have an idea for those Reds and Blacks I think my friend Sheila, who donated these lovely Etcetera swatches will approve I will start on this spring.  (She admits to being a UGA grad?!?)

Now real job takes over while I await my UPS delivery of more lovely background neutral fabric.

Quilt Pic Day in the Sun Part 1

A Day Out and About for Quilts 31,40,42,45,46 & 47

Sunshine returned at last, along with my dear man, so we made the most of my fair city squares on a January Saturday.

Quilt 31 was troublesome for me to quilt.  I thought the quilt top deserved better than my quilting skills can deliver, so it languished over a year.  I still did not achieve quilting to satisfy my hopes for it, but all these little squares finally had its day in Whitfield square!

This quilt design came from A Quilters World Autumn 2013 by Jenny Retwig.  I cannot find any links to share on the pattern here.  Thank you Quilters World and Jenny for this pattern for I adore cutting fabric into squares!

My city is a scene stealer backdrop for quilts!  That's fine with me.

Quilt 42 is my take on a pressed tin roof found still in many houses of old Savannah. I enjoy simple paper piecing.  The blue scraps were overflowing from two previous blue scrap projects, and then this quilt didn't consume them all.  Time to make another!

Photos made, time together, brunch consumed all with easy talk and laughter in the sunlight. I shall blog again with more quilt pics from the day.  It is time to post this and get back to enjoying having the man around sharing life for a few days.

Etcetera Fiesta Update

Back at the lovely designer clothing scraps: removing, fusing, cutting, sorting and stitching.

Now that my schedule is back in a rhythm of semi - normalcy, I can revisit projects like this one I love and save for cold, gray days.

Missing the local fabric store, Colonial Quilts yet again. About to order more Moda Gray Grunge online instead of dropping by the brick and mortar store to not just buy one needed thing, but touch lovely fabric, get new ideas, and take home something extra I didn't know I wanted.
